Blaisdale Montessori School was founded in 1969 by Mrs. Eleanor
Wilson. Blaisdale Montessori School was one of the first
Montessori School's in Canada. Mrs. Wilson was one of the
original founding members of the C.C.M.A. (Canadian Council of
Montessori Administrators). The C.C.M.A. is the
professional organization and regulating body for Montessori Schools.
Blaisdale Montessori School one of the biggest, most established and
reputable schools in Canada. The school began on the corner of
Blaisdale Rd. and Kecala, in East Toronto and has grown to include 9
campuses throughout Pickering, Scarborough, Ajax , Whitby, Oshawa
and Bowmanville.
Blaisdale
Montessori School's Principal, Ms. H. Wilson is one of the few principals
in Canada who was trained by Renilde Montessori (A.M.I.). This is
regarded as the best Montessori Training in the world. Renilde
Montessori is the grandaugther of Maria Montessori. Maria
Montessori was the founder and brilliance behind the Montessori Method of Education.
Ms. H Wilson is Mrs. Wilson's daughter and was also one of the inspirations
for the school and one of Blaisdale's first students.
Among the goals
for which we strive are: a sound basis and a healthy attitude for life-long
learning, self discipline, self-respect, independence, getting along with
others while developing a social conscience, initiative, ability to
concentrate, self-confidence, spiritual growth and a respect for the
environment. In regard to discipline, we use the Adlerian approach which is
based on respect for the child, and encourages the concept of self worth.

The Bowmanville
Campus is located on a 2 acre lot with 25,000 sq foot floor space, a stage
and large gym. This campus will educate and care for children
from 12 months to grade 8. This
Campus is located on a quiet residential street directly beside a
park. This Campus has features such
as bright sunny classes, large grassy fully fenced in playgrounds located
directly outside of the classrooms.
There is an abundance of safe play grounds for extracurricular sports
such as baseball, baseball and soccer to name a few. The playgrounds are also surrounded by mature
trees. The Bowmanville Campus has a
baseball diamond on its grounds. As
with all Blaisdale’s Campuses, when there is enough interest, the
Bowmanville Campus will offer extracurricular activities such as Karate,
Ballet, Orff or Kindermusik, Piano, t-ball, Baseball, Basketball, Indoor
and Outdoor Soccer.
The school
is open to children from 12 months to grade 8. It is the plan to operate in its first
year for children 12 months – 6 years old.
There will be a Pre-Toddler class from 12 months – 18 months, a
Toddler Class from 18 months – 2 ½ years and a Casa Class from 2 ½ years to
6 years. The school is equipped and
able to open the higher grades pending there is enough interest.
We are
busily upgrading and renovating the interior of the building. It is the plan to remove the older
portables from the South side to make way for more convenient parking and
add new and appropriate fencing to the rear of the school. The Bowmanville Campus will also have a
safe clean rubberized surface for the children to play on.

Blaisdale Montessori School has busing to our Ajax and Pickering Campuses through Stock
Transportation Ltd. Stock Transportation is providing a
bus that will be exclusive to Blaisdale Montessori School. The
phone number is (905) 426-3264 or email Lindac@stocktransportation.com . The
tentative times are from 7:30 - 8:10 a.m. for Pickering and 8:20-8:45 a.m.
for Ajax . then 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. for Ajax and 5:00 - 6:00 for
Pickering. Oshawa times are to be confirmed. The

There is availability in
most classes for September.
The school will send a starting package out to all new Casa
/Elementary children at the end of August. Toddler parents will get a phone call
to confirm their starting date.
There
is $100.00 per month available for families who have children 6
